Paul A. Fehrmann

Paul A. Fehrmann, age 77, of Highland, IL., died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born February 7, 1932, in Bartelso, IL., the son of August and Irene (nee Hilmes) Fehrmann. On August 22, 1957, he married Willene R. (nee Vahlkamp) Fehrmann , who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; a member of VFW Post 5694, Highland, IL; American Legion, Bartelso, IL; Knights of Columbus Council #1580, Highland, IL. Born at Bartelso, Illinois, and grew up on the family farm west of town. Served in the US Army with duty in Korea. Saw action as a Sgt in the Infantry receiving a Purple Heart. After the service he attended Bailey Technology Institute, St. Louis, Missouri. Lived in New Mexico, returning to Highland in 1959 to work at Basler Electric, retiring with 38 years of service 1996. He was a Manager of International Products at the time of his retirement. He was a world traveler because of his job. He enjoyed golfing. His passion was baseball, playing in school, signing with a minor league team, and coaching his grandchildren. In retirement he enjoyed his grandchildren and their activities. Survivors include Wife-Willene R. (nee Vahlkamp) Fehrmann of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Catherine M. Wood of Dallas, Texas, Daughter-Carol A. Fehrmann of Encinitas, Calif., Daughter-Cynthia R. Fehrmann of Saint Louis, Mo., Son-John A. Fehrmann of Maplewood, Mo., Son-Paul J. (Linda) Fehrmann of Glen Carbon, Ill., Grandchild-Nikulas J. (Courtney) Wood, Grandchild-Angeline D. Wood, Grandchild-Candace R. Erie, Grandchild-Gabriel N. Barron, Grandchild-George F. Erie, Grandchild-John A. Barron, Grandchild-Ava C. Fehrmann, Grandchild-Jack R.
