Paul D. "Don" Hooks, age 84 of Hamel, IL, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was born on Sunday, April 12, 1931, in Granite City, IL, the son of Paul F. and Minnie L. (nee Schwark) Hooks. On Saturday, March 03, 1956, he married Victoria Y. "Vickie" Hooks (nee Johnson) who survives. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Alhambra, IL; VFW Post 1299, Edwardsville, IL (Life Member); former Teamster. Don was born in Granite City and grew up in Maryville and Edwardsville. He graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1949. He was drafted and served with the 82nd Airborne Division with the US Army, during the Korean War from 1952 and honorably discharged in 1954. He worked for A.O. Smith, he farmed; Steinmann Trucking; retired from ABF Trucking after 19 years at the age of 77. He enjoyed reading, country music and fishing. Survivors include: Wife - Victoria Y. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Alhambra, IL, and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Monday, June 15, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Alhambra, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Alhambra, IL, with Rev. Mark Gause, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Alhambra, IL, officiating and Rev. Paul Daniel Hooks, Pastor, West Gate Baptist Church, Trenton, IL, co-officiant. Interment will be at Harris Cemetery in Alhambra, IL.
