Palmer C. Ridens, Jr.

Palmer Chester Ridens, Jr., age 72 of Marine, IL, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Saint Louis, MO. He was born on Monday, September 20, 1937, in Flint, MI, the son of Palmer and Janelle (nee Barber) Ridens, Sr. On Friday, February 14, 1969, he married Sherry E. Ridens (nee Cherry) who survives. He was a member of Highland Southern Baptist Church. He was also a member of Meals on Wheels (President), Highland, IL,(Captian for the Marine area). Born at Flint, Michigan; moved to Illinois at the age of 1 year. He graduated from Greenville High School, Greenville, IL, in 1957; his first three years of high school were at Worden, IL. In 1957 he started working for Douglas Aircraft, later became McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft, now Boeing; September 31, 1999 he retired with 42 1/2 years of service. As his children were growing up he coached their sports teams. He was a Deacon of his church; Sunday School Superitendent for over 20 years and still teaching Sunday School. He was his church\'s coordinator for the Food Pantry in Highland.He enjoyed riding his bike he rode 8 miles three times a week; camping: woodworking: visiting with people:and helping people with their needs. McCoy Extended Family - Denis & Tina Greenland, Edwardsville, IL Grandchildren - Sixteen Grandchildren Great Grandchildren - Seven Great Grandchildren Brother - Charles F. (June) Ridens, New Douglas, IL Sister - Beverly (Tom) Smith, Livingston, IL Brother - Gary (Ruth) Ridens, Universal City, TX Sister - Carole (Robert) Frazier, Decatur, IL Brother - Larry (Diane) Ridens, Worden, IL Former Wife - Judith Cruthis-Chumley, Coffeen, IL He was preceded in death by: Father - Palmer C. Ridens, Sr. Mother - Janell L. Ridens nee Barber Brother - Ron Ridens (died 08/11/2008) Sister - Karen Cheever (died 03/2009) Grandson - Nathan B.
