Opal Strotheide

Opal I. Strotheide nee, Iberg age 87, of Highland, IL., died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at her residence in Highland, IL. She was born June 9, 1920, in Highland, IL., the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Young) Iberg. On September 18, 1946, she married Laverne E. Strotheide , who survives. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL, (Baptized & Confirmed); and Women\'s Guild of the church. Mrs. Strotheide was born at Highland, IL; grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1938. She worked at Moulton-Bartley Shoe Factory, East End Mercantile Store and had been a checker at the IGA Supermarket. For a period of time, she and her husband were custodians at their church. She enjoyed cooking, dancing (Polka); she and her husband travelled extensively (50 states and Europe); flowers; her dogs; she was close to her family and a great role-model for them. Dixon of O Fallon, Mo., Granddaughter-Cassandra L. Colloton of Saint Louis, Mo., Granddaughter-Allison E. Colloton of St. Louis, Mo., Great Grandchild-Sophie G. Kreher of Troy, Ill., Great Grandchild-Caleb T. Myers of Normal, Ill., Step Grandchild-Jenell (Steve) Crist of Hugo, Minn., Step Grandchild-Jessica (John) Ulrich of Glen Carbon, Ill., Step Grandchild-Melissa (Capt. Iberg (died 4/30/1977), Mother-Dorothy M. Iberg (nee Young) (died 11/11/1947), Brother-Virgil L. Iberg (died 3/12/2004), Brother-Kenneth O. Iberg (5/24/1997), Sister-Evelyn Beard.
