Melba P. "Pat" Wernle

Melba P. "Pat" Wernle, age 79 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born on Tuesday, May 24, 1938, in Greenville, IL, the daughter of John H. and Golda A. (nee Tipsword) Farley. She was a member of VFW Auxilitary to Post #5694 and a former member of Highland Country Club. Pat was born in Greenville, IL, and grew up in Pocahontas, IL. She was a graduate of Greenville High School. After high school, she lived in Greenville, IL, and worked at DeMoulin Bros and Company. She moved to Milan, IL and helped her husband operating Subway Tavern in Bettendorf, Iowa. She also worked at a candy factory, while living in Milan, IL. She moved back to Greenville, IL, and then to Highland, IL, in 1973. She worked at Devtron for a number of years. In her retirement, she painted in oils and sketched. She was a wonderful seamstress. She was an avid antique collector. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother that enjoyed watching their sporting events. Survivors include: Daughter - Barbara M. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Highland, IL. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Rob Kirbach, pastor of First Baptist Church, Highland, IL, officiating.
