Maurice J. Korte

Maurice John Korte, age 66, of Highland, IL., died Sunday, November 9, 2008, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born December 10, 1941, in Highland, IL., the son of August and Clara (Kalmer) Korte. On May 31, 1969, he married Mary Ann Korte, nee Lebegue, who survives. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL. Maurice was born at Highland and grew up on a farm near Pierron. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1959. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War with the Military Police. He worked at Alton box Co. (now Smurfit Stone) from 1965 till 2003, when he retired due to health problems. Maurice was Grand Knight of Highland Knights of Columbus in 1983, and was named the number 1 Council in Illinois that year. He enjoyed playing golf, cutting grass, spending time with his grandchildren, and his family was always always first. He was also a member of Highland Knights of Columbus #1580, 4th Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight Highland VFW Post 5694 International Paper Workers Local 1215. (Irma) Korte of Highland, IL.; Sister-Sister Verena Korte, SSSF of Campbellsport, Wis., Sister-Viola \"Vi\" (Dale) Langenwalter of Edwardsville, Ill., Sister-Sister Joan Korte, SSSF of Aurora, Ill., Brother-Cyril (Barb) Korte of Rohnert Park, Calif., Brother-Donald (Mary Kay) Korte of Bowling Green, Ky., Sister-Sister Clare Korte SSSF of Winona, Minn., Sister-in-law-Marilyn Korte of Highland, Ill., Brother-in-law-Patrick Sheridan of Loveland, Colo. He was preceeded in death by Father-August Korte died April 1944, Mother-Clara E. Korte nee Kalmer died March 22, 2001, Sister-Adele T. Sheridan July 16, 2008, Brother-James Korte died Sept. 11, 1998.
