Marlin M. Fohne

Marlin M. Fohne, age 67 of Saint Jacob, IL, died Sunday, April 02, 2017, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Saturday, March 04, 1950, in Belleville, IL, the daughter of LaVerne and Helen (nee Doerzapf) Fohne. She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church, St. Jacob, IL; St. James Ladies Group; St. James Catholic Church Pastoral Council (Secretary); St. Jacob Township Trustee; Township Officials of Illinois and Madison County Township Officials Association; St. Jacob Park Board (former Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer); American Federation of State, County, Municipal Employees/AFL-CIO (AFSCME) Local 2887 at SIUE. Marlin was born in Belleville, IL. She attended St. Jacob Grade School and Triad High School graduating in 1968 with honors. After graduating, she worked as a secretary in the office of the Good Taste Cookie Company in Highland for less than a year. She then worked as a Legal Assistant and bookkeeper for Attorney Donald C. Rikli in Highland for 26 years until 1995. She quit to take care of her mother who was in poor health. After her mother passed away, Marlin worked as a secretary for Coldwell Banker Brown Realtors in Highland for one year. She was a Family Housing Representative in the Central Housing Office at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville from 1997 until she retired. Marlin enjoyed traveling with her mother on bus tours to 26 states and Mexico and collected refrigerator magnets from each state. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering and playing cards (Canasta and Euchre) and going out to eat with friends and co-workers. She was a sports fan following the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team. She was a community leader and had served many organizations. Survivors include: Cousin - Maurice Fohne, Lebanon, IL Cousins - Second Cousins and Third Cousins Survived & Loved By Many Friends. She was preceded in death by: Father - LaVerne G. Fohne - Died 3/17/1970 Mother - Helen A. Fohne, nee Doerzapf - Died 5/10/1996 Aunt - Marie L. Doerzapf - Died 8/28/2005 Uncle - Joseph Doerzapf - Died 2/25/1927 as an infant. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 08, 2017, at Saint James Catholic Church in Saint Jacob, IL. Funeral Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 08, 2017, at Saint James Catholic Church in Saint Jacob, IL., with Rev. Fr. Alan Hunter, Pastor, officiating and Rev. Fr. Paul Habing, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Marine, co-officiating. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Cemetery; St. Jacob Fire Department; or St. Jacob Park.
