Marie I. Schrage

Marie I. Schrage, age 79 of Pocahontas, IL, died Friday, July 26, 2019, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on April 10, 1940, in Beaver Prairie, IL, the daughter of Verba and Irene (nee Gross) Drake. On October 04, 1960, she married Theodore G. Schrage at Breese, IL. He passed away on May 17, 2019. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was also a member of former Daughters of Isabell; former St. Mary's Altar Society; 4-H Leader; Taught religion class over 25 years; former President Clinton County Rural Youth (as a teenager). Marie was born at Beaver Prairie, IL. She attended Jenne Country School through 8th grade and graduated Breese Central High School. She worked as Supervisor for 15 counties in Southwest Illinois for the US Department of Agriculture for 42 years. She received several awards for being top Supervisor. She and her husband operated a dairy farm. She was active in milking cows, feeding calves and did everything a good farm wife should do. They also had a state permit and raised Whitetail Deer. When she was younger she sold World Book Encyclopedia. She had worked at Clinton County Service Co. and Bond County Farm Bureau. Marie was a good care giver for her sons, her husband and others. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron, IL, with Father Paul J. Bonk officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pierron, IL. Memorial contributions may be made as Masses or the Family.
