Marie Horstmann

Marie Horstmann, age 91 of Highland, IL, died Friday, February 12, 2016, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born on Sunday, March 02, 1924, in Aviston, IL, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (nee Stoff) Luitjohan. On Tuesday, October 15, 1946, she married Vincent C. Horstmann, who passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, former member Altar Sodality and St. Paul Funeral Choir. Marie was born at Aviston, IL; she grew up in Aviston attending the school there. She had worked at the Moulton-Bartley Shoe Factory in Highland. After attending Beauty College she was a Beautician for many years, including some 28 years that she operated a Beauty Shop at Faith Countryside Homes Atrium Apartments. She had baked wedding cakes; was an accomplished seamstress; and enjoyed ceramics and painting. Marie was a nurturing person to her family and others. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Mrs. Marie Horstmann donated her body to science at Saint Louis University Medical School in Saint Louis, MO.
