Mabel E. Gieseking

Mabel E. (nee Hess) Gieseking, age 88, of Edwardsville, IL., died Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Decedent\'s Residence in Rural Edwardsville, (Pin Oak Township) IL. She was born September 14, 1920, in Marine, IL., the daughter of Henry and Annie (nee Gieszelman) Hess. On April 8, 1939, she married Herman Henry Gieseking - died 12/11/1986. Mrs. Gieseking was born west of Marine at Rte. 4 and 143 and grew up on the farm. Since 1956, she lived on the Gieseking Family farm where she raised her family and helped on the farm. She enjoyed flowers, liked to cook, bake and mow grass. Survivors include Daughter-Virginia A. (Rex) Rendleman of Edwardsville, Ill., Daughter-LaVerne (Elmer) Bradley of Highland, Ill., Son-James H. (Barbara) Gieseking of Edwardsville, Ill., Grandchild-Valerie (Mark) Oller of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Robert (Patty) Middleton, Jr. of New Douglas, Ill., Grandchild-Lynn (Milo) Deckert of Troy, Ill., Grandchild-Scott (Rachelle) Gieseking of Marine, Ill., Grandchild-Allan (Tammy) Gieseking of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Stacey (Tim) Counton of Dorsey, Ill., Grandchild-Nick (Shauna) Gieseking of Troy, Ill., Grandchild-Nina (Trevor) Gieseking of Florida, Grandchild-Gyle (Mary Kay) Gieseking of Edwardsville, Ill., Grandchild-Greg Gieseking of Granite City, Ill., Grandchild-Gina (David) Lizotte of Edwardsville, Ill., Grandchild-Gail Jones of Edwardsville, Ill. and a Brother-Edwin (Nina) Hess of Jerome, Mo. She was preceeded in death by Father-Henry Hess, Mother-Annie Rose (nee Gieszelman) Hess, Husband-Herman Henry Gieseking - Died 12/11/1986, Brother-Joe H. Hess, Brother-Earl J. Hess, Brother-Ben V. Hess, Sister-Emma Wessel, Brother-Henry Hess and Sister-Mamie Holtmann. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Marine, Ill. Private Graveside Service will be Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Forever Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL., with Rev. Philip H. Kershner, Pastor, United Church of Christ of Marine, Marine, Illinois, officiating. Interment will be at Forever Valley View in Edwardsville, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
