Lucille M. Schwarz

Mrs. Lucille Martha, nee Welchlen, Schwarz, age 98, of Highland, IL., died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born September 23, 1907, in St. Louis, MO., the daughter of John and Martha (nee Landolt) Welchlen. On April 21, 1931, she married Vincent R. Schwarz, who passed away November 13, 1954. She was a member of Saint Gertrude Catholic Church-Grantfork, IL; Weinheimer Senior Citizens-Highland; Madison Country Farm Bureau; St.Gertrude Altar Sodality. Mrs. Schwarz was born in St. Louis, MO; reared in the Grantfork, IL area. She and her husband farmed, and she and her sons continued to operate the dairy and grain farm after his death. She had lived there for over 68 years. She was the \"Cookie Lady\" to many people in the Grantfork area; she was well-known for her pecan pies; she enjoyed a large flower garden and had over 700 gladiolus bulbs in her flower beds. Survivors include Son-Harold J. Schwarz of Grantfork, Ill., Daughter-Shirley (Wendelin) Schumacher of Aviston, Ill., Daughter-Betty (Harold) Rutz of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Nancy (Thomas) Zaloga of Highland, Ill., Brother-James C. (Wilma) Welchlen of Marine, Ill., Grandchild-Danny Schumacher, Grandchild-Donna (Jim) Voss, Grandchild-Denise (Alan) Guttersohn, Grandchild-David (Michelle) Schumacher, Grandchild-Terri (Greg) Walter, Grandchild-Tammy (Jim) Blumberg, Grandchild-Tim (Clara) Rutz, Grandchild-Mike Zaloga, Grandchild-Nick (fiancee Anne Emig) Zaloga and thirteen Geat Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Father-John Welchlen, Mother-Martha Emma Welchlen, nee Landolt, Husband-Vincent R. Schwarz (DOD 11/13/54), Son-Richard V. Schwarz (DOD 08/06/1995), Sister-Jennie J. Goestenkors (DOD 03/19/2000), Brother-Lester Welchlen (DOD 07/23/1997), Sister-Loraine E. Schwarz (DOD 12/07/1992), Brother-Burnell J. Welchlen (DOD 07/04/2003). Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill. Interment will be at Saint Gertrude Catholic Cemetery in Grantfork, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Countryside Homes-Highland; Gateway Hospice-Granite City, IL; or St.Gertrude Catholic Church.
