Louis B. Winkeler

Louis B. Winkeler, age 73, of Highland, IL., died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at his residence in Highland, IL. He was born December 18, 1932, in Bartelso, IL., the son of Frank and Mary (Bergmann) Winkeler. On May 21, 1960, he married Marietta J. (Kampwerth) Winkeler , who survives. Born and raised at Bartelso, IL; went to school at St. Cecelia School, Bartelso, IL. Active Duty with the US Army, Feb. 19, 1953 thru Feb 18, 1955, he spent 21 months at Grand Rapids, Michigan, as a Radio-Telephone operator during the Korean War. He began working at Alton Box Board (at retirement Jefferson Smurfit Stone) in May 1957 and retired as a Press Operator in January 1997. He enjoyed vacations with his family, his grandchildren and gardening. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL, Knights of Columbus, Council #1580-Highland, IL; Nighttime Singers w/ the KC\'s; Catholic Fraternal Life; Local 1215 United Paper Workers International Union. Survivors include Wife-Marietta J. (Kampwerth) Winkeler of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Diane M. (Glenn \"Ike\") Hoyt of Highland, Ill., Son-Donald A. (Joleen \"Jodi\") Winkeler of Breese, Ill., Daughter-Lori J. (Tim) Lucia of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Zachary Winkler of Breese, Ill., Grandchild-Cameron Winkeler of Breese, Ill., Grandchild-Kelsey Hoyt of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Kristin Hoyt of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Emily Lucia of Highland, Ill., Grandchild-Katelyn Lucia of Highland, Ill., Sister-Margaret (Ralph) Lake of Bartelso, Ill., Sister-Frances Winkeler of Bartelso, Ill., Sister-Christine Budde of Bartelso, Ill., Sister-Veronica \"Fron\" Rickhoff of Bartelso, Ill., Sister-Lucy Fuehne of Bartelso, Ill., Brother-Andy (Jenny) Winkeler of Highland, Ill., Brother-John (Virginia) Winkeler of Beckemeyer, Ill., Brother-Alphonse (Kay) Winkeler of Albers, Ill. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and a brother-Frank Winkeler, Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation; St. Joseph Hospital; Heartland Hospice; or St. Paul Catholic Church.
