Lonnie D. Inlow

Lonnie D. Inlow, age 70 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, May 08, 2013, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born August 02, 1942, in Salem, IL, the son of Robert Ward and Christine D. (nee Tate) Inlow. On June 11, 1967, he married Janice L. Kelly who survives in Highland. He was a member of Highland Community Church. Lonnie was born at home at Salem, IL; graduated from Centralia High School in 1960; and earned a degree in Journalism & Advertising at SIU-C. He served with the US Army and in December of 1965 became a Reporter for the Collinsville Herald. He returned to school and earned a Masters in Social Justice from U of I at Springfield, IL. He was a proof-reader for the Wall Street Journal while attending graduate school. He started working for the Illinois Bureau of Investigation ( IBI ) in April 1970. The IBI was merged in to the Illinois State Police where Lonnie rose to the rank of Major and was Commander for Illinois District 11, and then Commander for Area 4. He retired in December 1998. In his retirement he worked for the U of I as police liaison for the Illinois Government and Police Affairs office. Lonnie was an avid Harley Davidson rider and enjoyed cross-country trips with his friends. He and his wife also traveled extensively. Spending time with his family and grandchildren was what he enjoyed most and was very important to him; hunting with friends and family and being in nature/out-of-doors was a beloved pastime; listening to a wide variety of music and reading were methods of relaxing. Faith was important to Lonnie, he had served on his church Board of Elders and as a Deacon. He also was an AWANA Leader for his church. Survivors include : Wife - Janice L. Inlow, Highland, IL Sister In-law - Debbie Inlow, Salem, IL Aunt - Imogene Phillips, Salem, IL Nieces and Nephews - Numerous Cousins - Many He was preceded in death by : Father - Robert W.
