Leroy J. Zeller

Leroy Joseph Zeller, age 81, of Highland, IL., died Monday, January 23, 2006, at St. Mary\'s Health Care Center in Richmond Heights, MO. He was born August 26, 1924, in New Douglas, IL., the son of Robert and Julia (Holzgang) Zeller. On April 28, 1978, he married Janet Belle McClay Zeller , who survives. He was also a member of Lee Iten Post #439, American Legion-Highland, IL, 35 yr. member; Masonic Lodge#583, A.F. & A.M. (Masons)-Highland, IL, 20 yr. member; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Southern Illinois-Belleville, IL; Ainad Temple, A.A.O.N.O.M.S. (Shriners)-East St. Louis, IL; Labor Local 100-E. St. Louis, IL.. Born 1/2 mile north of Route 140. Served in the United States Army, during World War II, with duty in Germany. He drove a milk truck for a short time for Wolf Trucking Co., Staunton, IL; was a Laborer for Local #100, East St. Louis, Illinois, for 55 years. He was know by his family and friends to ride around town nearly everyday on his scooter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fishing, traveling, travelled to Hawaii and Alaska in 2005, several trips to Las Vegas and Lake of the Ozarks. He was a very hard worker and a person that would give you his shirt off his back. Survivors include Wife-Janet Belle McClay Zeller of Alhambra, Ill., Step-Son-Kenneth L. McClay of Donnellson, Ill., Step-Daughter-Janice A. Mickle of Keysport, Ill., Step Grandchild-Michael N. Mickle of Evansville, Ind., Step Grandchild-Ronald L. Mickle of Las Vegas, Nev., Nephew-Lawrence \"Larry\" (Janet) Segelken of Troy, Ill., Niece-Julie (Ronald) Robertson of Pocahontas, Ill., Nephew-August Hagler of Pocahontas, Ill., Nephew-Thomas (Bea) Lindgens of New Douglas, Ill., Nephew-Leonard (Jean) Lindgens of Kyle, Texas, Niece-Viola (Ron) Boschelli of Highland, Ill., Niece-Anna (Gary) Wilson of Highland, Ill., Close Friends-Jeffery Rehberger & Letizia \"Tisha\" Lowe of Highland, Ill. He was preceded in death by Father-Robert \"Rube\" Zeller, Mother-Julia Zeller, Sister-Ella C. Segelken (died 1/21/2004), Sister-Roberta Kuhn, Sister-Katherine Lindgens, Brother-Lester Zeller, Nephew-Richard Segelken
