Leona M. Rutz

Leona M. Rutz, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born May 11, 1927, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Boyle) Drda. On September 20, 1948, she married Dale W. Rutz at Highland, IL. He passed away on June 28, 2006. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of Highland Country Club. Leona was born in her family's home in Highland. She was a 1945 graduate of St. Paul High School. Following graduation, she lived with her sister in Birmingham, AL and worked for the Better Business Bureau. She returned to Highland and worked for Pet Milk Co. as a secretary until her first child was born. She stayed home with her children until they were grown and then worked part time for Dr. William Drake. She was active at the Highland Country Club, playing golf in Wednesday League, and was an avid Bridge player, playing in several Duplicate Bridge Groups. (Nicholas Infante) Frey, Chicago, IL Great Grandchild - Zander D. Rutz, Breese, IL Great Grandchild - Breck G. Rutz, Breese, IL Twin Brother - Leonard T. (Arlene "Sis") Drda, Highland, IL She was preceded in death by : Father - Joseph T. Drda died 9/4/1969 Mother - Mary A. Drda nee Boyle died 5/22/1994 Husband - Dale W. Rutz died 6/28/2006 Brother - Joseph W. Drda died 9/1/1977 Brother - Francis A. Drda died 9/28/1977 Sister - Cecelia M. "Cele" Zeller died 6/24/1998 Son In-law - Gerald S. Schnitzer died 12/19/2010 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Southern IL.
