Laura Emma Loyet

Laura Emma Loyet, age 87 of Highland, IL, died Monday, December 02, 2019, in The Woodlands, TX. She was born on Friday, November 25, 1932, south of Pierron, IL, the daughter of Herman and Margaret (nee Baumgartner) Frey. On Tuesday, April 20, 1954, she married Donald Lee Loyet at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, who passed away on Monday, June 10, 1996. Laura was born south of Pierron, IL, on the family farm Madison County. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, Pierron. She worked at the Alton Box Board Company, Highland; later for Hughes Aircraft Co, Culver City, CA, until late 1956 when she stayed home to start raising their children. In 1961 they moved to Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA, in 1968 they moved to Ipswich, Massachusetts, and in 1972 to Scottsdale, AZ. In 1998 she moved to Highland, IL. She was a loving wife and mother who raised three children and taught them compassion, empathy, loyalty and a strong sense of family. She enjoyed being outside, either gardening, planting or mowing her lawn. She was a lover of all animals, especially her dogs, the last being Sable, who was more than a pet, she was her constant companion. Laura was a strong woman who beat cancer three times, the first being breast cancer 19 years ago. She was an inspiration to those who heard her story and gave hope to those in despair. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society; Shriner's Hospital for Children or Donor's Choice.
