Larry P. Kampwerth

Larry Paul Kampwerth, age 63 of Richmond, TX, died Friday, August 7, 2015, at his home in Richmond, TX. He was born on November 5, 1951, in Highland, IL, the son of Jerome J. and Irma C. (nee Kombrink) Kampwerth. On Saturday, February 19, 1972, he married Katherine Gale Wilber, who survives. He was a member of River Pointe Church in Richmond, TX and a former member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Mr. Kampwerth was born in Highland, IL, and graduated from Triad High School in 1969. He spent most of his adolescent years on a farm near Marine, Illinois. He worked for many years for the Edwardsville Creamery and various truck lines in St. Louis. He retired at the age of 50. In 2003, Larry and his wife of 43 years, Kathy, moved to Texas to be closer to their two sons and grandchildren. He worked for the Ft. Bend School District as a bus driver until the opening of Dream Dinners where he was an owner and helped manage the business.He loved to play golf, cards, dance the polka, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and deer hunting in the woods of Southern Illinois. Larry’s grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a hard worker who loved his family and especially his wife Kathy, and he will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Christopher W. Hill, Senior Pastor, Highland, IL officiating. A private interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
