Larry Haislar

Lawrence A. \"Larry\" Haislar, age 83, of Pierron, IL., died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born August 3, 1925, in St. Rose, IL., the son of Frederick and Hildegarde (Geiger) Haislar. On February 11, 1953, he married Ramona I. Haislar nee Gemoules , who survives. Born at St. Rose. Lived in rural Highland near the Pistol Club. He was the Janitor at St. Rose Catholic Church before he went to the serviceHe was in the US Army during the Korean War. Self-employed as a milk hauler around the St. Rose area. Had heart attack in 1964 and stopped hauling milk. Worked at Basler Electric in 1964, Ford Motor Company in St. Louis 1966 to 1974, then Horn Trucking in Highland. At age 73, in 1997 he received his GED. He was very active in the VFW, liked to garden, read, shoot pool, and spend time with his grandkids. He was also a member of Lee Iten Post #439-American Legion-Highland-Past Commander; VFW Post #5694-Highland; Past Commander; Highland Senior Citizens; 40/8 Club @ Am. Legion.
