Joseph F. Hug, Jr., age 87 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Deceased's Residence in Highland, IL. He was born on Monday, September 28, 1925, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Joseph F. , Sr. and Louise (nee Blumenstein) Hug. On Saturday, August 03, 1985, he married Shirley L. Hug (nee Sparks) who survives. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL; Korte Recreation Center; Carpenter\'s Local #586, Sacramento, CA (50 year member) and former Elk. Born and reared at E. St. Louis, IL. US Navy veteran, served during World War II, active duty in the South Pacific. He moved to California in 1959, started working as a carpenter; became General Superintendent. He worked in California and Florida for Larchmont Homes. He retired in 1987. Joe and Shirley moved to Illinois in 1993. They had travelled in their motor home for several years after retirement - fishing all over the country.Joe was a proud woodworker; he had taught his children how to work doing construction - carpentering, laying bricks, roofing, working with their hands. He had completely restored a 1957 T-Bird; his car won awards at car shows all over the western states. His family enjoyed fishing as a family. He liked to do puzzles and then framed them.
