Jerome H. Steiner

Jerome Henry Steiner, age 69, of Highland Ill., died Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, Ill. He was born September 8, 1936, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of August and the late Lillian (Kremer) Steiner. On May 5, 1962, he married Mariann (nee Schmidt) Steiner at Saint John the Baptist Church in St. Louis, Mo., who survives. Mr. Steiner attended St. Andrews Grade School and then spent two years at the Seminary. He then graduated from Bishop DuBorg High School. After High School, he served with the U.S. Army as a printer at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., for two years. He worked as a salesman for Rissman Graphic Arts, Mead Paper Co., and Butler Paper Co. He then purchased Highland Printers in 1987, retiring in March of 2004. He was awarded Knights of Columbus Knight of the Year in 2004. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, Bridge, and Pinnochle. He loved Cardinals Baseball and horseback riding. Every year, he brought horses to the Madison County Fair on Special Needs Day for the children to ride. Mr. Steiner was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church-Highland. the Knights of Columbus #1580-Highland, Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Highland Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Highland Planning Commission and a former member of the Highland Saddle Club. Survivors also include Father-August Steiner of St. Louis, Mo., Daughter-Linda M. (Richard) Schwend of Highland, Ill., Daughter-Barbara A. (Bobby) Estes of Rowlett, Texas, Daughter-Amy L.
