Janet E. Clarkin, age 74 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at her residence in Highland, IL. She was born on March 07, 1942, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Wilbur and Nelda (nee Kesner) Grotefendt. On November 22, 1991, she married Robert Clarkin in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hepassed away on February 06, 2004. She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ. Janet was born in Highland and grew up on the family farm Northwest of Grantfork, Illinois. She was a graduate of Highland High School, class of 1959. Drove a school bus for 15 years for Ramsey Bus Service while raising her children. She moved to Troy, IL and started working as a Rural Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, starting in 1979 and retiring in the early 2000's, She moved back to Highland in the late 1990's. She enjoyed cross stitching and crafts. She also loved visiting with her daughters and grandchildren. She played cards with 2 groups and liked playing dominos. Survivors include: Daughter - Patti A. (Larry) Moss, Highland, IL Sister - Joyce A. Grotefendt, Highland, IL First Husband - Richard M. (Kathleen) Essenpreis married 5/5/1961-divorced 1985, Highland, IL. She was preceded in death by : Husband - Robert Clarkin died 02/06/2004 Father - Wilbur H. Grotefendt died 11/30/2004 Mother - Nelda L. Grotefendt nee Kesner died 6/30/1999 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 18, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL., with Rev. Tim A. Darmour-Paul officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Grantfork UCC or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
