Ivan C. Ulmet

Ivan Claude Ulmet, age 89, of Highland, IL., died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born May 20, 1917, in Highland, IL., the son of Oliver and Rose (Vulliet) Ulmet. On January 5, 1971, he married Eugenia F. \"Jean\" Ulmet, nee Barton, who passed away February 17, 1999. He was a former member of Bethany Baptist Church. Mr. Ulmet was born southeast of Highland and grew up on the family farm in the Sebastapol area. He graduated from Highland High School, then was a farmer for 25-28 years in Madison County (Helvetia and Godfrey Townships). He worked for Wisconsin Barge Corp., where he was a First Mate on the Reliance River Tow Boat. He had lived in East St. Louis, IL from 1971-1976, then moved back to Highland in 1976. From 1977 to 1985 he worked at the City of Highland Waste Water Plant as an operator. And, like his wife, he ran an antique business for 20 years. He also enjoyed cats. (Cindy) Szczepanik of Granite City, Ill., Step Grandchild-Michael (Angela) Szczepanik of Utah, Step Grandchild-Ellard (Dayna) Douglas, Jr. of Belleville, Ill., Step Grandchild-Ronald (Mandy) Douglas of Avon, Ind., Step Grandchild-Robert (Jennifer) Douglas of Highland, Ill., Step Grandchild-Tony (Cindy) Beasenburg of South Carolina, Step Grandchild-Joseph Beasenburg of South Carolina, Step Grandchild-Mark Beasenburg of South Carolina, Step Gr Grandchildren-Ten, Step Gr - Gr Grandchildren-Four He was preceeded in death by Father-Oliver D.
