Imogene Koelz

Imogene Koelz, age 100 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, August 01, 2015, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born April 05, 1915, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Alvin and Milda (nee Zobrist) Gilomen. On August 23, 1933, she married Gerald Koelz who passed away on February 22, 1998. Imogene was born on Deck's Prairie and attended Giger School. She and her husband farmed the Koelz Farm in St. Jacob Township south of Highland, raising dairy, grain and livestock. She especially took care of her chickens, vegetable and flower gardens. She moved to Highland after her husband's death. She enjoyed playing cards (Jass), spending time with her grandchildren, and family was important to her and she loved to cook. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday at the Expo Building at the Madison County Fair Grounds. Survivors include : Daughter - Delores J. "Dede" (Larry) Prott, Marine, IL Daughter - Donna L. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 04, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Wednesday, August 05, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 05, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Gary Kniepkamp officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Area Community Foundation or St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
