Gustav Hammer

Gustav Louis Hammer, age 86, of Highland, IL., died Friday, November 9, 2007, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born December 4, 1920, in Highland, IL., the son of Philip and Ottillia (Winkler) Hammer. Gustav was born and raised on the family farm, South of Highland, one mile north of St. Morgan. His son Robert is the 3rd generation to live there. Gus farmed from 1951-1967. He then worked at Highland Supply and retired after 25 plus years. He enjoyed playing Euchur, singing old western songs, was a 6 gallon blood donor, and a former member of Teens Encounter Christ and Marriage Encounter Community. On November 10, 1951, he married Ethel M. (nee Jansen) Hammer , who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL. He was also a member of Highland Knights of Columbus #1580, Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights and Ladies. Survivors include Wife-Ethel M.
