Fremond E. Kunz, Sr.

Fremond E. Kunz, Sr., age 91 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, December 23, 2012, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Sunday, April 10, 1921, in Trenton, IL, the son of Julius P. and Nettie P. (nee Bayer) Kunz. On Saturday, March 04, 1972, he married Alvira H. Kunz (nee Stimpel) who survives. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Lee Iten Post 439-American Legion-Highland; VFW Post 5694 -Highland; St. Clair County Farm Bureau. Born at Trenton, IL; grew up at St. Jacob; lived at Lebanon. He served in the US Navy from 4/1/43 - 11/12/45 with tours of duty in the South Pacific and Philippines as a gunner on the USS Pennsylvania. After the war he operated a service station in Lebanon. He had trained as a millwright. Mr. Kunz farmed from 1938 - 1976 and also operated Kunz Sales and Service later called Farmers Equipment at Trenton. He moved to Highland in 1972 and retired in 1976. He moved to Suppiger Lane in 1992; later to Legacy Place in 2010. Mr. Kunz enjoyed crafts and wood working and gardening. Survivors include: Wife - Alvira H.
