Freda A. Fuchs

Freda A. Fuchs, age 94 of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 14, 2015, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born on Wednesday, June 01, 1921, in Oak Hill, MO, the daughter of Ollie C. and Nellie D. (nee Simpson) Souders. On Friday, April 11, 1942, she married James T. Fuchs who passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 1990. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (75 years) Chapter 228 - St. Louis, MO & Home Chapter 313 - St. Louis, MO; VFW Ladies Auxiliary to Post 5694 - Highland, IL. Freda was born at Oak Hill, MO; grew up there. She graduated from Cuba Missouri High School and graduated from Southeast Missouri State College at Cape Girardeau, MO. She taught school briefly, before moving to St. Louis, MO. She worked for Lockwoven Company for many years. She and her husband moved to Creve Coeur, MO in late 1940's and she moved to Highland in 2009 to be near her daughter. She enjoyed growing flowering, taking care of her garden, sewing, quilting, hand or fancy work. She was a very dedicated person, always tried to do her best. Survivors include: Daughter - Sharon R. Fuchs, Jefferson City, MO Step Great Grandchild - Connor Fuchs, Owensville, MO Step Great Grandchild - Jason Fuchs, Owensville, MO Step Great Grandchild - Dillon Fuchs, Colorado Springs, CO Sister - Pauline F. Bell, Highland, IL Three Nephews She was preceded in death by: Father - Ollie C. Souders Mother - Nellie D. Souders nee Simpson Husband - James T. Fuchs Died 10/10/1990 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, MO. Graveside Service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cuba, MO, with Terry Knight, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Historical Society; Oak Hill Cemetery Association.
