Ethel M. Hammer

Ethel M. Hammer nee Jansen, age 83, of Highland, IL., died Monday, January 4, 2010, at Alhambra Care Center in Alhambra, IL. She was born September 21, 1926, in Breese, IL., the daughter of Herman and Agnes (Huelsman) Jansen. On November 10, 1951, she married Gustav L. Hammer who passed away November 9, 2007. Born at Breese, Illinois. From age 6 to 15 she grew up at St. Libory, IL; her family later moved to St. Louis, MO. She worked at Doyle\'s Pie Bakery in St. Louis, for 9Â½ years. After her marriage she moved to Highland where she and her husband Gus, lived on his families farm, south of Highland. They lived there from 1951 to 1992. After raising her children, she worked at Highland Manor in the kitchen, then for Highland Home as the head cook for 10 years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL. She was also a member of Daughter\'s of Isabella; Altar Society; and Highland Senior Citizens. Survivors include Son-Michael L. (Ruth Ann) Hammer of East Saint Louis, Ill., Son-Robert P.
