Eric W. Miller

Eric W. Miller, age 62 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born on Thursday, July 15, 1954, in Mount Vernon, IL, the son of Ernest J. and Margaret H. (nee Setter) Miller. On Saturday, November 29, 1975, he married Christine Diane Miller nee Groves at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mt. Vernon, IL, who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Council #1471, Monroe, WI. Eric was born and grew up in Mt. Vernon, IL. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1972. He attended Rend Lake Junior College and SIUE and received a BA in Business Administration. He began living in Highland while attending SIUE. He was a manager at the Highland Dairy Queen while in college. He had a long career in the lumber industry. He enjoyed golfing, mowing grass and played high school basketball. He was a "Master Chef" at grilling and cooking. Survivors include: Wife - Christine D. Miller, nee Groves, Highland, IL Daughter - Erin L. Miller, Madison, WI Daughter - Kelly D. (Phillip) Zappia, Highland, IL Grandchild - Dillan C. Zappia, Highland, IL Grandchild - Damon O. Zappia, Highland, IL Brother - Carl (Donna) Miller, Mount Vernon, IL Sister - Jeannie (Willard "Butch') Baker, Bluford, IL Brother - Patrick Miller, Ferdinand, ID He was preceded in death by: Father - Ernest Jeane Miller (Died 4-30-1981) Mother - Margaret Helen Miller, nee Setter (Died 12-18-2013) Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, August 21, 2016, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, Pastor of the Church and Rev. Msgr. David L. Peters, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Paul Catholic Church, officiating. Private interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul School Educational Foundation or The Charity of the Donor's Choice.
