Eleanor L. Bircher

Eleanor L. Bircher, age 91 of Highland, IL, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. She was born April 06, 1922, in Carlyle, IL, the daughter of Fred and Louisa (nee Steffan) Wiese. In 1940 she married Monroe John Bircher who passed away March 20, 1960. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. Born in rural Carlyle (Frog Town), IL; grew up there; after marriage she and her husband farmed south of Highland; she continued to farm and reared their children after his death. She had worked at Gibson\'s in Highland; Marine Garment Factory, Highland School Cafeteria; Wal-Mart as a greeter for 17 years and retired at age 84. She was a very good seamstress.
