Elaine M. Iberg

Elaine M. Iberg, age 79 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born December 13, 1935, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Melvin Christ and Edna Emelie Magdalena (nee Ambuehl) Peter. On July 02, 1955, she married Edward Lloyd Iberg who passed away on July 31, 2003. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. She was also a member of Memorial and Bequest Board of Church; Highland Historical Society (former Secretary & Treasurer); Highland Garden Club; St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; Red Hat Lady. Elaine was born and grew up at Deck's Prairie northwest of Highland. She graduated from Highland High School in 1953. After her marriage, she lived north of Highland on the Iberg family farm. She worked for Dr. Baumann until her son was born. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as the T.V. Lady for many years. She worked at Highland Grade School cafeteria for 20 years and retiring this spring.She has an extensive collection of historical memorabilia. She was an avid snow sledder, still sledding in March 1, 2015. She was very passionate about Highland Historical Society. She collected antiques and collectibles. She make scrapbooks for her Grandkids and Highland Historical Society. She was part of a Pinochle Group on Saturday Night. She was an "Old Highlander" many generations of her family were from Highland. She was named an adoptive mother for many of her son's friends. Survivors include : Son - Allen E. (Lori) Iberg, Highland, IL Grandchild - Kalen Nicole (Blake) Welge, Worthington, MN Great Grandchild - Daisy Lynn Welge, Worthington, MN Great Grandchild - Hank Alan Welge, Worthington, MN Cousins - Several She was preceded in death by : Husband - Edward L. Iberg (died 7/31/2003) Father - Melvin C. Peter (died 8/17/1999) Mother - Edna E. Peter nee Ambuehl (died 5/25/1996) Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Will VerDuin officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ; Highland Historical Society; Highland Relay for Life (American Cancer Society).
