Dorothy A. Neudecker

Dorothy A. Neudecker, age 89 of Maryville, IL, died Friday, August 26, 2011, at Liberty Village of Maryville in Maryville, IL. She was born on Friday, July 07, 1922, in Edwardsville, IL, the daughter of Frank and Anna (nee Kesl) Sedlacek. On Saturday, January 19, 1946, she married Luke J. Neudecker. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary; St. Elizabeth\'s Altar Society; Marine Senior Citizens; Home Extension; 8 and 40 Club; former member of the Marine Fireman\'s Auxiliary.. Mrs. Neudecker was born at Edwardsville, IL. She attended school until having to help with her younger siblings. She received her GED from Belleville Area College at the age of 70. Dorothy had worked as a Housekeeper and Nanny for the Henry family in Edwardsville in her teens. During WWII she worked at Western Cartridge; later she had worked at Schroeder\'s Cheese Shop, J.C. Penny\'s; and at the \"Y\" in Edwardsville where she taught \"Arthritis in the Water\" classes. She was an avid quilter; a good seamstress and had taught sewing for the 4-H clubs in the area. A dedicated member of her church, she was always volunteering for something. Mrs. Neudecker loved to fish, she had taken all of her grandchildren fishing, she maintained a worm bed in her basement to always have worms for fishing. She and her husband, Luke, made lots of homemade wine. In addition, Dorothy was a great baker and cook. Survivors include: Daughter - Elaine M. (Donald) Smith, Monroe, LA Daughter - Jane A.
