Doris I. Rottmann

Doris I. Rottmann, age 99 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. She was born on Sunday, January 25, 1914, in Saint Louis, MO, the daughter of Theodore H. and Ella (nee Kaveler) Hesskamp. On Saturday, September 19, 1942, she married Edward "Ed" William Rottmann who passed away on Thursday, February 08, 1996. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Dorcas Circle of church & Lutheran Womens Missionary League; former member of the Salem Lutheran Church, Blackjack, MO. Doris was born in the Baden area of North St. Louis, MO. At age 17 she went to work for Paradise Shoe Co., St. Louis and worked there until her marriage. After marriage she and her husband moved to N. St. Louis County and farmed; later in 1960 they moved SE of Highland to the Sebastopol area. They operated a grain and livestock farm and reared their family. They retired from farming in 1988. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts for missions, gardening and canning. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Hope Lutheran Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Leonard C. Laetsch, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or Visiting Nurse Assoc. (VNA).
