Della R. Hug

Della R. Hug, age 103 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, July 05, 2011, at Faith Care Center/Faith Countryside Homes in Highland, IL. She was born on Wednesday, November 16, 1907, in Grantfork, IL, the daughter of Henry Fred and Eva Lena (nee Hollis) Beinecke. On Saturday, September 24, 1927, she married Waldo Edward \"Wally\" Hug who passed away on April 14, 1993. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Highland, IL; Dorcus Fellowship and Highland Woman\'s Club (past president & honorary member). Born at Grantfork, IL; graduated from Highland High School in 1925. Went to school at Rubicam Business School, St. Louis, MO; she rode the train every day to school. She worked for Hug Trucking Co. until marriage. She assisted her husband with operations of Hug\'s Men & Boys Wear; a long-time Highland business.After retirement they traveled worldwide and spent winters in La Jolla, CA and Maui, HI. She walked uptown from her Lindenthal Ave. apartment to get groceries and to the library until age 95. In 2007 she moved in with her daughter and nursing care began in 2009. She loved to take care of her grandchildren; also loved to read. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, (she belonged to the same card club for over 50 years) and watching birds. She enjoyed gardening.
