Darrel J. Ohren

Darrel Joseph Ohren, age 75 of rural New Douglas, IL, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born July 08, 1935, in rural Pocahontas, IL, the son of John Thomas and Alice Cecelia (nee Walsh) Ohren. On June 21, 1958, he married Roberta R. Ohren (nee Hiller) who passed away on July 7, 1988. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pierron. He was also a member of Mid-West Truckers Association; Leef Township Trustee; Retired from Alhambra Fire Dept. . Darrel was born in Old Ripley Township, in Bond County. He grew up on the family farm on IL Route 140, West of Old Ripley. He attended Ray County School. He worked at Alton Box Co. in Highland, then served with the US Army with duty in Germany. When he returned home, he started hauling milk for Whiteside, Ramsey & Klaus Companies. He bought the hauling business from Merlin \"Buck\" Klaus in 1980 and operated as Darrel J. Ohren Trucking until retirement in 2009. He operated the family grain and livestock farm for many years, and loved his work. He attended auctions, collected antique tractors, and enjoyed visiting with friends over coffee. Survivors include : Daughter - Kathy E. (Robert) Loos, Marine, IL Son - Robert D. Loos, Marine, IL Grandchild - Blake J. (Special Friend-Reanna Dixon) Ohren, Highland, IL Grandchild - Brett A. Loos, Marine, IL Grandchild - Brendan J.
