Daniel J. Zimmermann

Daniel J. Zimmermann, age 78 of Highland, IL, died Monday, January 25, 2016, at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. He was born March 08, 1937, in Highland, IL, the son of Cletus and Imogene (nee Merwin) Zimmermann. On June 09, 1978, he married Carol Ann Robertson who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. Daniel was born in Highland. He graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in 1955. He attended Quincy College. He worked for Highland Machine as a foreman and draftsman. He started building custom homes as a Master Carpenter and built homes in Highland for over 40 years. He served with Missouri Air National Guard from 1958 to 1964.He retired and worked at Aviston Lumber for 15 years. He was very family oriented. He loved nature and watching wildlife. He also enjoyed deer hunting, goose hunting, and fishing. He was a supporter of Special Olympics. He enjoyed the tradition of attending early season games of the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals. Capelle (Died 1/9/2014) Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital; or as Masses.
