CW4 Robert E. Siverly, Sr., US Army Retired

CW4 Robert E. Siverly, Sr., US Army Retired , age 72 of Glen Carbon, IL, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. He was born on Tuesday, March 22, 1938, in West Union, IL, the son of Raymond and Marie (nee Trueblood) Siverly. On Saturday, October 20, 1956, he married Charlene Ann Siverly (nee Callen) who survives. He was a member of VFW Post 5694-Highland, IL. Mr. Siverly was born at West Union, Illinois; moved to Highland, IL as a high school Senior and graduated from Highland High School in 1956. He entered the US Army, August, 1956; served 27 years, retiring in 1983. His service included two two tours in Vietnam (1967-1968 and 1970-1971). His first duty was as a radar repairman on satellite dishes at White Sands, New Mexico. In 1965 he went to flight school. He flew Huey helicopters in Vietnam; was shot down and was presented the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service during the tour.. He flew King Air fixed wing aircraft his second tour in Vietnam. He also had received the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit. Other duty tours included Greenland and Hawaii. Bob & his family returned Highland in 1979; they moved to Glen Carbon, IL in 1995. After his military service, he worked as a Safety Inspector at McDonnell Douglas/now Boeing, St. Louis, Missouri, for 17 years (1985-2003). He enjoyed building model aircraft and flying them. He enjoyed jogging & walking; helping his children and grandchildren; he was a general handyman for many family projects Survivors include: Wife - Charlene A. Siverly, Glen Carbon, IL Son - Robert E.
