Clinton P. "Pete" Kerin, age 86 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Tuesday, March 30, 1926, in Livingston, IL, the son of Peter and Olga (nee Sautelet) Kerin. On Saturday, November 09, 1946, he married Lillian M. Kerin (nee Widmer) who survives . He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; VFW Post 5694 (Life Member), Highland, IL; Knight of Columbus, Council #1580, Highland, IL; Highland Historical Society (Chapter & Life Member); Helvetia Sharpshooters Society, Highland, IL; Friends of St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL; Highland Area Community Foundation; Louis Latzer Memorial Public Library, Highland, IL; Highland Chamber of Commerce (also former tour guide). Born at Livingston, IL; reared in Highland, IL; graduated from Highland High School, in 1944; and entered the US Army Air Corps in June of 1944. Served with the US Army Air Corps as a Tail Gunner on a B-24 Liberator; served during the Occupation of Japan, during WW II. He was a carpenter for Hellrung Construction and helped build St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Joseph Hospital and other churches in the area. He became an estimator for Hellrung Construction, then Western Water Proofing, Kienstra Company, Vice President for Jamieson Brick, Brighton, IL; Korte Construction as a project manager, retiring in 1989. He also helped his wife w/ the operation of Swiss Gift Shop, Highland, IL. He was an avid biker, enjoyed golf , and liked photography. He and his wife extensively travelled to Europe, Japan, China, the Orient, Australia, New Zealand and the U.S. Survivors include: Wife - Lillian M. Kerin , Highland, IL Son - Robert C. (Sherry) Hall, Shiloh, IL Great Grandchild - David L. Hamisak, Ozark, MO Step Great Grandchild - Aiden B. Hall, Shiloh, IL Step Great Grandchild - Sophie E. Hall, Shiloh , IL Nephew - Todd K. (Amy) Kerin, Dellaware, OH. He was preceded in death by: Father - Peter Kerin Mother - Olga Kerin (nee Sautelet) Daughter In-law - Kay L. Kerin, nee Steiner (died 01/06/1987) Brother - Kenneth R. Kerin (died 12/1972).
