Clarence R. "Sled" Frey

Clarence R. "Sled" Frey, age 78 of Highland, IL, died Friday, November 07, 2014, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born January 26, 1936, in Highland, IL, the son of Albert and Margaret (nee Allen) Frey. On June 16, 1962, he married Grace Florence von Hatten who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. He was also a member of Highland Optimist Club (Past President and Life Member) - Knights of Columbus Council 1580 Highland - Helvetia Sharpshooters Society. Clarence was born in Highland, Il and a graduate of St. Paul School in 1953. He worked for U. P. S. and then for Linenfelser Lumber Co. in Highland until his retirement in 1999. He was an avid golfer and a Course Marshall at Bent Oak Golf Course in Breese. He also loved cooking and barbequing. He volunteered and cooked with the Knights of Columbus at St. Paul and Kirchenfest. He liked to travel and play cards. Survivors include : Wife - Grace F. Korte, Highland, IL Grandchild - Zachery W. Korte, Highland, IL Grandchild - Lexie C. Korte, Highland, IL He was preceded in death by : Father - Albert Frey died Feb 1958 Mother - Margaret Frey-Merkle nee Allen Sister - Donna J. Boden died 12/23/1985 Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. David Peters, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Masses or Charity of Donor's Choice.
