Clara F. Gilomen

Mrs. Clara Frances (Vosholler) Gilomen, age 78, of Saint Jacob, Illinois, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Faith Care Center in Highland, Illinois. She was born August 12, 1927, in Highland, IL., the daughter of Fred and Ella (Kustermann) Vosholler. On June 26, 1948, she married Raymond B. Gilomen, who passed away February 4, 1998. She was born at Highland, IL; she grew up there. She had worked at the Highland Shoe Company; the St. Louis Shoe Factory in St. Louis, MO; Alton Box Company in Highland; and helped on the family farm she and her husband operated. They lived east of St. Jacob, IL on the farm for many years; moving into St. Jacob about 1977. Since 1990 they have spent three months every winter in Texas. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, bingo and crocheting. She & her husband participated in an every Friday night \"jam session\" at Liz\'s Tavern in Jamestown for 20 plus years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. Jacob, IL.; the Altar Society of the Church; Ladies Auxiliary to V.F.W. Post 5694, Highland, IL. Survivors include three sons Michael R. (Jean) Gilomen of Highland, Ill., Randy B. (Cathy) Gilomen of Saint Jacob, Ill., Duane F. \"Dewey\" (Diana) Gilomen of Highland, Ill., two daughters Gerrie M. (Bill) Milam of Salem, Ill., Patsie A. (Matt) Benhoff of Breese, Ill., brothers Anthony \"Tony\" (Virginia) Vosholler of Highland, Ill., John (Arlene) Vosholler of Pocahontas, Ill., sisters-Anna Oestringer of Highland, Ill., Rose Sams of Highland, Ill., Agnes (Gerald) Kampwerth [twin to Clara] of Highland, Ill., Mary Frank of Highland, Ill.; brother-in-laws-Orville Becker of Marine, Ill., Emil Mersinger of St. Jacob, Ill., and sister-in-law-Maude Deerhake of Highland, Ill.Jean Vosholler of Highland, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, three step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ella (nee Kustermann) Vosholler; husband Raymond B. Gilomen, died 2/4/1998; sisters Eleanor Becker, died 9/22/2004, Irene Mersinger died 05 /17/2000, Frieda Zobrist, died 12/18/1991; brothers Bernard Anton \"Bennie\" Vosholler, died 8/27/1973, Fred T. \"Fritz\" Vosholler (7/3/1995); brothers in-law Elmer Oestringer, Clemens Frank and Alan Zobrist. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill. Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made as Masses; St. James Catholic Church; Hospice of Southern Illinois; or Faith Countryside Homes.
