Carol J. Ruelas

Carol J. Ruelas, age 77 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL. She was born on June 22, 1942, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Louis and Maude (nee Schatte) Bersin. On June 18, 1966, she married Salvador C. Ruelas at St. Louis, MO. He passed away on Sunday, September 09, 1984. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. She was also a former member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in St. Louis, MO. Carol was born at home on Lee Avenue and grew up in St. Louis, MO. She graduated Central High School. She worked at Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis. After she started her family, she stayed at home with her children. In 2004, she moved to Highland into Faith Countryside Apartments. Carol loved to read, play Bingo and collected bird figurines. Bersin, nee Schatte Husband - Salvador C. Ruelas - Died 9/9/1984 Son - Antonio R. Ruelas Brother - Merle Bersin Brother - Robert Bersin Brother - William Bersin Brother - Richard Bersin Sister - Marion Bailey Sister - Floy Stefanske Sister - Doris Raymo Sister - Gail Bersin Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2020, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Father Pat G. Jakel, officiating. Interment will be at Iberia Cemetery in Iberia, MO at 3:00 PM on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
