Art Dale Capelle, age 80 of Troy, IL, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at his residence in Troy, IL. He was born June 26, 1933, in Troy, IL, the son of Paul Martin and Ethel Mary (nee Arth) Capelle. On October 18, 1952, he married Nancy Ann Liening who survives. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knight of Columbus, Council #9266, Troy, IL (past Grand Knight & charter member); Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Assembly #3442 (started the 4th Degree in Troy), 2002 Illinois Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame; Insulators Local 56-Wood River, IL; worked out of Local #1, St. Louis, MO; former member of American Legion Post #708-Troy, IL. . Born at the family home and reared in Troy, IL. Graduated from McCray-Dewey High School, Troy, IL, in 1951. He served with the US Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He worked at the Commonwealth-Edison and Shell Oil Refinery, as a Insulator; later he worked out of Local #1, St. Louis, MO. He retired in 1994. He coached his sons in baseball. He played baseball for the Troy Red Birds. He was a faithful follower of the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Team. He truly did enjoy his grandchildren. He enjoyed cutting firewood. "He enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends, our lives are richer because he shared his life so fully. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL, with Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Troy, IL with Military honors by Highland VFW and Highland American Legion Posts. Memorial contributions may be made to Masses; CELTIC Hospice (formerly VNA/TIP).
