Alfred L. Siegrist

Alfred L. Siegrist, age 95, of Highland, IL., died Friday, May 28, 2010, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born July 4, 1914, in Highland, IL., the son of Alfred and Frieda (nee Knoebel) Siegrist. On February 25, 1939, he married Irene C. Siegrist , nee Plocher, who passed away March 17, 2002. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Over 50 year member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ - Highland, IL; Highland Lodge #583, A.F. & A.M.-Highland Il for over 50 years; Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years; AARP for many years; Highland Country Club; Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Siegrist was born in Highland, Grew up in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1932. He was a member of the first Football Team at Highland High School in 1930. He attended the University of Illinois. Mr. Siegrist\'s father had been President of Kuhnen and Siegrist Hardware Company in Highland; his grandfather had been President of Highland National Bank and a former Mayor of Highland. Mr. Siegrist had worked for Admiral Hospital Supply for many years. He and his wife also operated Siegrist\'s Style Shoppe in Highland from 1937-1966. He was an Eagle Boy Scout and continued scouting, served as President of the Kickapoo District, Unit Commissioner and other offices. He was active for over 50 years; earned the Silver Beaver; and maintained his activity even when retired and living in Ft. Myers, Florida. Mr. Siegrist had served as a City Alderman for two terms in the early 1950s. During his term, the Weinheimer Building was erected. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Highland Jaycees in January 1977. Always active in the city of Highland, Mr. Siegrist had served as Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Siegrist was a Past President of the Highland PTA. Survivors include Daughter-Donna L. (Dan) Suess of Edwardsville, Ill., Grandchildren-Jeff (Jane) Siegrist of Chicago, Ill., Aaron (Danielle) Suess of Edwardsville, Ill., Ryan (Michelle) Suess of Chatham, Ill., Kelly Suess of Farmington Hills, and Stacy Suess of O Fallon, Ill., Great Grandchildren-Jack Siegrist of Chicago, Ill., Jamie Siegrist of Chicago, Ill., Kendyl Suess of Edwardsville, Ill., Mikaela Suess of Edwardsville, Ill., Abbey Suess of Chatham, Ill., and Ty Suess of Chatham, Ill., Daughter-In-Law-Carolyn Siegrist of Highland, Ill., Sister in-law-Wilma Siegrist of Clear Water, Fla. He was preceded in death by Father-Alfred R. Siegrist, Mother-Frieda Nellie (Knoebel) Siegrist, Wife-Irene C. Siegrist , nee Plocher, (DOD 3/17/2002), Son-Wayne Siegrist (DOD 6/26/2005), Brother-Milton R. Siegrist (DOD 2/13/2004)
