Agnes E. Schreiber

Agnes E. Schreiber, age 89 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, May 07, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. She was born February 12, 1927, in Blackjack, IL, the daughter of Peter L. and Estella (nee Ammel) Loyet. On May 01, 1954, she married Robert H. "Bob" Schreiber at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Troy, IL. He passed away on March 17, 2004. She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church; former member of Daughters of Isabella; Knights of Columbus Ladies Aux.;, Highland Pierron Fire Dept. Ladies Aux.; former member of St. Ann Altar Sodality. Agnes was born in Blackjack and grew up in Troy, IL. She taught in a one-room school in the country near Troy. She left teaching to get married and stay home to raise her children. She and her husband moved to Pierron after their marriage. After her children were grown she worked at the Marine Garment Factory for 18 years, and retired in 1995. She and her husband moved to Highland in 1980. Together they volunteered at local nursing homes, drove for Meals on Wheels, and worked serving lunch at Highland Nutrition Center. They were also very active with the Highland Knights of Columbus. She was very artistic and enjoyed oil painting on canvas, gardening and crafts. Special thanks to those that help to provide her a longer life by donating platelets and blood. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Father Pat G. Jakel, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
