Joel R. Randol

Joel R. Randol, age 88 of Highland, IL, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Monday, May 30, 1927, in Gary, IN, the son of Joel and Eda (nee Johnson) Randol. On Tuesday, June 01, 1948, he married Katie L. Randol nee Hite who passed away on Thursday, July 08, 2010. He was a member of Bardwell Baptist Church, Bardwell, KY, he attended Highland Community Church, Highland, IL. Joel was born at Gary, IN, in Lake County. He grew up there until he and his parents moved to Bardwell, KY, when he was a teenager. After marriage he and his wife moved to East St. Louis, IL. He worked for Walworth Valve Company, E. St. Louis, for 14 years as a machinist; later worked for Hunter Packing Company, E. St. Louis; and then retired from Cooper B-Line, Highland, IL. He and his wife moved to Troy, IL,, for 23 years; after retirement they moved to Bardwell, KY, for 15 years; then moved to Highland, IL, in 2005, to be closer to their daughter. He enjoyed going to church, travelling to Florida, fixing things and time with family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter - Kathryn D. (John V.) Schmitt, Highland, IL Grandchild - John R. (fiancee-Amanda Miller) Schmitt, Caseyville, IL Grandchild - Jennifer K. (Brett) Droy, Moore, OK Grandchild - Julia R. (Ian) Lackey, Highland, IL Great Grandchild - John R. Schmitt, Jr. Great Grandchild - Seth A. Schmitt Great Grandchild - Taylor K. Droy Great Grandchild - Trent R. Droy Great Grandchild - Kaylee G. Droy Great Grandchild - Britney L. Lackey Great Grandchild - Brooklynn M. Lackey. He was preceded in death by: Father - Joel E. Randol (died 11/09/1976) Mother - Eda I. Randol (nee Johnson) (died 6/27/1995) Wife - Katie L. Randol (nee Hite) (died 7/8/2010). Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Mississippi Baptist Church in Bardwell, KY. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Mississippi Baptist Church in Bardwell, KY., with Brother Mark Burnett, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Mississippi Baptist Cemetery in Bardwell, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Community Church.
