Fred M. Schneider

Fred M. Schneider, age 70 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, April 02, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJC) in Saint Louis, MO. He was born on Sunday, February 07, 1943, in Highland, IL, the son of Merton L. and Melba M. (nee Bellm) Schneider. On Friday, January 04, 1991, he married Janet Schneider (nee Nihiser) who survives. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church; Highland Optimist Club (life member; past president); Highland Lion\'s Club (past president); Police Pension Board of Highland; Highland Jaycees; former board member of River Bluff Girl Scout Council. Fred was born at Highland, IL and graduated Saint Paul High School-Highland in 1961. He attended SIU-C; served with the U.S. Navy 1963-65 and after his service graduated from SIU-E in 1967 with BS in business.. He had worked for Chrysler Corporation; sold New York Life Insurance and then worked for Farmers & Merchants Bank - Highland as Assistant Trust Officer. Fred started as a broker for MGI Investments; he moved to Maloney Securities where he was a broker for the last 15 years. Fred was always very active in his community - he had received the Lion\'s club Melvin Jones Fellowship award, the Lions of Illinois Foundation Fellowship award and the Lion of the Year award in 2000-2001. For all he did, his favorite times were on the golf course (two hole-in-one shots) and walking the beach. Fred had a wonderful collection of American Flyer trains that his grandchildren enjoyed watching run. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. . (Marilyn) Nihiser, Highland, IL Brother In-law - Jack R. Nihiser, Highland, IL Sister In-law - Patricia J. Riegel, Highland, IL Former Wife - Jacquelyn J. Goble (married 9/25/65; ended in divorce). He was preceded in death by: Father - Merton L. Schneider (died 06/14/1978) Mother - Melba M. Schneider nee Bellm (died 12/14/2002).
