Eldon A. "Al" Kiraly

Eldon A. "Al" Kiraly, age 90 of Highland, IL, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Saint Louis University Hospital in Saint Louis, MO. He was born on Sunday, April 24, 1927, in Granite City, IL, the son of Alex and Theresa (nee Magyar) Kiraly. On Saturday, April 14, 1951, he married Betty Lou Kiraly nee Hoefle at Highland, IL, who passed away on Tuesday, March 06, 2012. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL; Highland Optimist Club; Highland Country Club; Lee Iten Post 439-American Legion-Highland; VFW Post 5694 (Life Member) -Highland. Eldon was born at Granite City, IL. His family lived in Tucson, AZ, and moved to Highland, IL, in 1946. He graduated from Granite City High School and attended college. He served with the US Navy. He worked for the railroad and then worked as a cartographer at the Defense Mapping Agency, St. Louis, MO for 34 years and he retired at age 55. Al and his wife Betty shared over 60 years of married life. He enjoyed vacationing with his brother and other family members, playing golf several times a week, bowling for many years, watching his grandchildren in their activities, playing cards, visiting the casino boats, and spending time with his beloved dog Maggie. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 01, 2017, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 01, 2017, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL., with Rev. Christopher W. Hill, Senior Pastor, officiating and Rev. Msgr. David L. Peters, Pastor Emeritus, St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Optimist Club or Siteman Cancer Center.
