Edward F. Moenster

Edward F. Moenster, age 83 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Highland, IL. He was born on Wednesday, April 03, 1935, in St. Rose, IL, the son of Frank and Hilda (nee Spierling) Moenster. On Tuesday, August 28, 1956, he married Jeanette M. Moenster nee Potthast at St. Paul Catholic Church-Highland, IL, who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. Edward was born and raised at St. Rose, IL; graduated from Aviston High School in 1953. He worked for Woltering Garage, St. Rose and later purchased Koch & Hug Garage in 1966. Ed, along with Dave Rehkemper and Clint Rogier, started Tri-Ford on September 16, 1969. They also started Highland Dairy Queen and sold it in the early 1970's. As an owner of Tri-Ford, he was the service manager for the dealership and the secretary/treasurer for the board. He also was a former owner of Travel One Agency and was still working there until a month ago. He retired from Tri-Ford in 2006. He enjoyed family trips, traveling all over the west with their six children and always annual trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a mechanic on Charlie Barnes race car #300 at the Highland Speedway. He was a baseball player as a young man and managed Clinton County baseball teams. Survivors include: Daughter - Lynn M. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Fr. Pat G. Jakel, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul School Educational Foundation; St. Paul Catholic Church; or St. Rose Catholic Church.
