Dean L. Lanphere

Dean L. Lanphere, age 95 of Highland, IL, died Monday, July 20, 2015, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born August 07, 1919, in Denrock, IL, the son of Hubert and Nona (nee Bosomworth) Lanphere. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Highland Optimists; Shriner; Life Member of Lee Iten American Legion Post #439 in Highland, IL . He was an active member of the Highland Optimists. He was a Shriner, and member of the Lee Iten American Legion Post #439 of Highland, IL, and a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL. Dean served his country as a bomber pilot in WWII in New Guinea, Pacific theater, flying 58 missions. He retired from the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller. He then studied horticulture, graduating from Broward Community College . He was Wagon Master for Winnebago caravans to Alaska and Canada. As a Shriner Clown and Optimist, he gave generously of his time to his community. Last Veteran’s Day he was Grand Marshall of the Highland Parade. He loved life, gave much, lived a full and adventurous life. Survivors include : Daughter - Denise A. (Ken) Crisler, Navarre, FL Daughter - Jodeane S. Ferrara, Pembroke Pines, FL Step Son - Jerry L. (Roberta) Dauderman, Newport Beach, CA Grandchild - Darren L. (Kristen) Martenson Grandchild - Erik A. Martenson Grandchild - Lori S. (Greg) Neal Grandchild - Amy D. Lyons Step Grandchildren - Three . Great Grandchildren - Several . He was preceded in death by : Father - Hubert Lanphere Mother - Nona Lanphere nee Bosomworth Wife - Gladys M. Lanphere nee Hitz died 6/17/2014 First Wife - Geneva M. Lanphere nee Presnell Second Wife - Katherine M. Lanphere nee Crick Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL. Memorial service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, IL, with Rev. Will VerDuin, Associate Pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
