Carl A. Gnaedinger

Carl A. Gnaedinger, age 83 of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, February 01, 2017, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. He was born on Tuesday, August 22, 1933, in Pocahontas, IL, the son of Anthony and Laura (nee Voegele) Gnaedinger. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. Carl was born in rural Pocahontas, IL, on the family farm south west of town. He grew up on the farm and attended Hess County School and Immaculate Conception Catholic Grade School in Pierron. He helped with the family dairy and grain farm. When his parents retired and moved to Highland in the early 1980's, he worked at Jakel's Manufacturing for a brief time. After his parents passed, he moved to Faith Countryside Homes and then to Highland Health Care Center in 2000. He enjoyed being around people and visiting with family. Fohne, Lebanon, IL Sister - Joan Long, Eaton, OH Sister - Sharon (James) Widman, Parksville, MO Sister - Denise (Dennis) Stoecklin, Happy Valley, OR Sister In-law - Mary Gnaedinger, Highland, IL Brother-in-law - Andrew Winkeler, Highland, IL Nieces and Nephews - Twenty-four Great Nieces & Nephews - Many Great Great Nieces & Nephews - Several. He was preceded in death by: Father - Anthony A. "Tony" Gnaedinger (died 5/9/1995) Mother - Laura C. Gnaedinger, nee Voegele (died 5/20/1988) Brother - Vincent Gnaedinger - (died 6/2/2001) Sister - Genevieve Winkeler - (died 10/20/2007) Sister In-law - Sarah Gnaedinger (died 5/21/2015) Sister In-law - Lorene Gnaedinger Brother-in-law - Ervin P. Fohne (died 2/2/2004) Brother-in-law - John Long. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 03, 2017, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM on Saturday, February 04, 2017, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 04, 2017, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL., with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of Donor's Choice.
